LO Solutions

Lila (leelah) Ojeda, MS, RD, LD, CSCS (owner, LO Solutions)

As a Registered Dietitian and Personal Trainer, I love helping people! For over 8 years I have had the extraordinary opportunity to do just this by helping my clients reach their nutrition, health, and fitness goals. I often lead them from one success to the next with the proper education, support, and motivation along the way.

My love of food and passion for good nutrition, health and fitness began before I even realized it. I grew up eating healthy food before I knew what "healthy" was and I loved it all without question.  My mom was (still is!) ahead of her time and raised 7 healthy children, none of whom have the "picky- eater syndrome" that plagues families today. I was a very active child involved in dance, track, and gymnastics. However, I never considered it "exercise", not even when my mom suggested we jump for 10 minutes (set a timer for fun!) on the indoor (yes 1980's) mini-trampoline when it was raining outside.

In high school I discovered health food stores, supplements and weight training.  In college I discovered the culinary world, exploring new foods every week and learning that "I love to cook without a book," a saying that my grandma embroidered when she was just 20 years old and which now hangs in my office as inspiration.  Yet it wasn't really until I began my dietetics coursework at University of California, Davis (‘98) that I began to fully understand the important role that food and fitness play in overall health and wellness.   My personal experiences supported everything that I was learning. Good nutrition and physical activity are in fact the basis of good health. In 1999, I completed the dietetic internship at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU) and upon graduation I began working at OHSU in nutrition research, and simultaneously started LO Solutions.

It was at OHSU, (where I worked for over 8 years) that the foundation of my nutrition knowledge blossomed, especially in the areas of heart disease, cholesterol/triglycerides, anti-inflammatory eating, research recipe writing & testing, diabetes, blood pressure, and more. I further expanded my fitness and nutrition knowledge at Portland State University ('03) and grew to love (and advocate the use of) pedometers when I wrote and complete my thesis (in collaboration with OHSU), titled: "Pedometer-Derived Physical Activity in Normal Weight and Overweight Female Nurses". Read
Thesis.

I am on a continuous personal journey to grow stronger (both in body and mind), to gain more knowledge, and to understand myself (and thus my clients) better.  My personal evolution and goals are reflected in the growth of LO Solutions over the last 8 years. In addition to being a Registered Dietitian and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (my personal training certificate), I am also a fully certified Pilates instructor (though Core Dynamics and Pilates Method Alliance). I began "taking" yoga classes in approximately 2000, but truly began to understand the asana (physical part) practice of yoga in August of 2006. I realized there was so much more to yoga the following year and thus entered the Teacher Training Program at Amrita, A Sanctuary for Yoga in the fall of 2008. With each new lesson I learn, I envision ways I can further help my clients - whether it be with new foods to try (I'm continuously exploring), mind-body balance (such as daily meditation), or new innovative exercises (you don't have to take a class to do yoga and Pilates). It's amazing to watch a client's transformation within a single session, and throughout the years.

My greatest desire, as I continue on this journey in search of strength, knowledge and self-awareness, is to share my findings with each of my clients - in the capacities I perceive (and assess) they are ready to devour.  I love (and crave) making a difference in the health of those around me. Let me be your guide to new found success and inner peace.
